2020 Playoffs officially cancelled
Submitted By Tim McNaughton on Thursday, March 19, 2020
The WOAA has officially cancelled the remainder of the 2020 playoffs

On March 18th what we all feared came to life when the WOAA league officials decided to pull the plug on the remainder of the 2020 playoffs, although most teams feel it is the right decision with everything that is going on in the world, it still stings for those 6 teams who remained in the push for titles.

When we left off we still had 2 AA semi final series being played with the Radars leading Tillsonburg 3 games to 1 and Minto and Ripley tied 2 games a piece, in the A side Milverton and Tavistock were just set to start their final series. With some great story lines such as Clinton looking for their 5th straight championship and the unbelievable run Minto has been on the past few months it's a shame we won't get to see how things played out.

A lot of people around the league feel this has been the best season of Sr hockey we've seen in a long time in regards to the overall competitiveness shown throughout the season, with the absolute log jam we saw in the standings, followed by 2, almost 3 "upsets" in the first round of the playoffs, it feels like the WOAA Sr hockey league is in great shape coming out of the 2019/20 season.

The league would like to thank all the teams for their dedication and hard work throughout the season, very few people understand the work that goes into running a team not only during the season but throughout the off season as well.

We would also like to thank the players, without players there's no teams, many of our players have full time jobs, school schedules and families to work around in order to keep playing competitive hockey, the dedication this takes does not go unnoticed!

Finally the sponsors and the fans, we know our teams have great sponsors that support them in many different fashions throughout the season whether it be financial support, helping with events or anything else the team needs, we can never thank you enough for the continued support!

To the fans who spend their weekends sitting in arenas watching these guys play, again without you there is no team and no league, from someone who interacts with the players I can tell you they notice and appreciate the fans who make it out to watch them play and we hope we can continue to have great crowds in every arena league wide.

Thank you everyone for a great season, we're looking forward to firing up next year already!!
