Playoffs rolling along
Submitted By Tim McNaughton on Thursday, February 20, 2020
The first 2 weeks of playoffs have given us some great hockey

Approaching the final weekend of round 1 in the AA side not much is clear, all 4 series have been great hockey to watch so far with no eliminations yet. Our 1 vs 8 series of Ripley and Durham has been anything but a first vs last affair with both teams winning 2 games going into the final weekend, and if the last few games tell us anything this one may come down to the last few minutes of game 7!
Our 2 vs 7 series is showing the potential for an upset as Minto currently leads Shelburne 3 games to 1, although they have been close games the trains seem to be on a mission that may prove difficult for anyone to derail!
The 3 vs 6 series of Tillsonburg and Saugeen Shores has also been a great series of tight games, again with the lower seed Thunder coming out on top with a 3-1 series lead heading into the final weekend of the series, the experience of the Winterhawks will be tough to topple, but we'll see if they have what it takes to take 3 in a row off the Thunder!
Finally the 4 vs 5 series dubbed the battle of hwy 8 as the current champs Radars take on the Centenaires down the road, this one again has been a really good series of back and forth hockey that could come down to the last few minutes of game 7 to decide, currently deadlocked at 2 games each, it's going to be an exiting weekend in those 2 towns
In the A side the Lucknow Lancers sent Petrolia packing in a quick 2 games and will now line up with the 1st place Tavistock Royals in a best of 7 to get started this weekend, with Tavistock sitting a few weeks now it will be interesting to see if the fresh Lancers can get a jump on them or if Tavi comes prepared to roll.
In the other A seriesMilverton made quick work of Shallow Lake winning 2 in a row to earn a best of 7 with Elora starting Friday night, the Drives are coming in hot having won 4 in a row dating back to the regular season but Elora has been waiting patiently to get their shot at them, so it should be a great series as well!
Keep an eye on the website and all the social media accounts for updates this weekend, and get out to your local arena to support some great hockey!!!
